The Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) together with the Regional Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) organized a workshop “Training of Trainers on e-Commerce” in New-Delhi. The two-day hands-on seminar aimed to empower the participants with the

  • techniques of moderation and the basics of communications and
  • Online marketing strategies and technological requirements for setting up an e-Commerce platform.

This first-of-its-kind workshop combined the relevant aspects of facilitation skills together with knowledge on digital business. With participants from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, the workshop paved a way for promoting digital literacy to these countries in a structured and strategic manner.

“For a trainer, methodology is as important as content” said Dr. Ronald Meinardus, FNF’s Regional Director who was one of the moderators. He mainly dealt with the techniques of how to plan, prepare and implement a structured workshop program (including objectives, content, methods, resources and logistics). The program offered a comprehensive package of participatory teaching and learning techniques like Open Space and Role Plays. These helped the trainees analyze their strengths and weaknesses while conducting such workshops themselves. Rishab Chandra, Founder of the e-commerce start-up Script Technology moderated the technical sessions which dealt with the essentials of e-Commerce and the important features of web-based technologies.

The workshop brought to light the growing demand for such program in South Asia. Identifying the right resources and creating a strong network will be a boost to the growing digital needs of the region. FNF stands committed to work on strengthening and promoting digital literacy in the region.
